How Preparing For Annual Check-Ups After Prostate Cancer Cause Almost Two Months of Stress Each Year

Just about two months before it's time for the next annual check-up, my husband starts to stress about this upcoming event. His stress and my hormones can be a rough combination. He told me that he's a worrier. Even if he wins the lottery, he has promised me he'll continue to worry.

Issues have come up about our health and even my annual female-type examinations give him anxiety. How do you manage. First, be aware that this pattern will continue . We discuss the matters. He states that once you have had any type of Cancer, dealt with the consequences, examinations, and procedures, and been given a clean bill of health, you don't want it back.

Other Cancer survivor friends have told me that once you've been through chemo and radiation, you are not sure if you could tolerate it and everything that goes with the procedures and recovery a repeated time. It's so tough. Once is more than enough.

My mammogram report gave the doctors something to question. When I told my husband he went into panic and anxiety attack mode. I told him that they did not suspect Cancer, it was something else they just wanted to get better pictures and be sure about. He freaked out. He was unable to do his job for a few days.

We are working towards more balance in our lives every day in all areas including our thoughts, our food intake, work, recreation, and exercise. Successful living and thinking happens one minute at a time, one day at a time. It helps not to overwhelm yourself with too many issues. Small steps lead to big results.
